Develop your skill as a dressmaker at these general sessions. Suitable for all levels, you will need to bring your fabric and haberdashery, pattern advice will be given where necessary. Refreshments provided at every session.

A general dressmaking class with plenty of support and guidance. Suitable for beginner dressmakers as well as more advanced as individual projects are worked on. Fitting and finishing advice aplenty. You will need to bring your fabric and haberdashery, pattern advice can also be given.

Introduction to dressmaking – Framlingham
Kick off the Winter with a introduction to dressmaking class. Learn how to set up your machine and use it for accurate and tidy results. Make a variety of products including a pin cushion, dress weights and a pj set (top and bottoms). Choose your fabric for the pj set and I will provide the rest – including delcious home made refreshments. Small classes (maximum 8) with a patient and very experienced teacher. Based at the Pavilion, Pageants Field Framlingham.
Wednesday afternoons, 1.30 to 4 pm, 6 week course starting 17th September to 22nd October, £130.00.
Introduction to Dressmaking the next steps
Follow on course to the introduction – suitable for those who can use a sewing machine and want to textend their skills base for dressmaking and sewn products.
We will produce a variety of different products to learn about inserting zips, creating facings and pockets and top stitching.
Products to include a lined zip bag (resources part of fee), an apron with topstitched detail, buttons and patch pockets with fabric provided by particpants.
Sewing machines available for your use as well as basic sewing equipment. Light refreshments served at every session.
6 week course 1.30 pm to 4 pm. £130.00 BASED IN FRAMLINGHAM

Make friends with your overlocker
Join us for a half day workshop and make friends with your overlocker. Led by Mr Tim, our resident, qualified, sewing machine technician. Learn to thread and adjust your overlocker from scratch, go through common tension and usage issues and experiment with settings for a variety of fabrics. This is a 3 hour session, including light refreshments. Bring your own overlocker as long as it is in good working order as this course is focused on machine settings as opposed to repairs or book in to use a school machine. Limited to 4 places. £60.00. The sessions runs from 10 am to 1 pm. Light refreshements are class notes are included.

PATTERN CUTTING COURSES
Introduction to pattern cutting – FELIXSTOWE
Join me for a series of pattern cutting weekend workshops on the introduction to pattern cutting. the first weekender covers the correct method for taking body measurements, drafting a skirt block and bodice block, solving common fitting issues and making final blocks from which you can develop your own patterns. You need to be able to use a sewing machine as you will be required to make up your calico toile (fabric prototype) inbetween lessons. What’s included? Dressmaking paper and cardboard, comprehensive course notes, calico for toiles and light refreshements. You will need to bring a tape measure, sharp pencils, eraser, paper scissors, masking tape, coloured pens, sharpener, a metre rule and large set square.
WEEKENDER – INTRODUCTION TO PATTERN CUTTING – new dates
Part 1 – body measurements, drafting skirt and bodice block, fitting and refining
A new 2 day course covering the introduction to pattern cutting over a Saturday and Sunday. You will need to be1 able to use a sewing machine and have a basic knowledge of dressmaking as toiles (prototype garments) will need to be made during the course. All resources are included, as well as light refreshments. £170 per person.

Part 2 – skirt development and one piece dress block development

The follow on course from the introductory sessions. We will learn about developing different skirt styles from the basic skirt block as well as produce a one piece dress blocks. This course fee is inclusive of; dressmaking paper and cardboard, comprehensive notes and calico (where required), light refreshments are also served.
Part 3 sleeve and princess seam block TBA
Convert your dress block to a princess seam, one piece, Experiement with necklines, bodice variations and creating a sleeve block.
The course fee is inclusive of; dressmaking paper and cardboard, comprehensive notes and calico (where required), light refreshments also served.
Part 4 trouser block TBA
For those that have completed parts 1 – 3 this weekend course takes you through measuring and producing a trouser block, fitting and refining.
